HC Deb 06 July 1933 vol 280 c488
17. Mr. de ROTHSCHILD

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that there are 96 families in Wisbech, chiefly the families of agricultural labourers, waiting for houses, and that a scheme for housing these people has had to be turned down, as the withdrawal of the grant under the 1924 Act has made it impossible to build houses in the area which can be let at a sufficiently low rent; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Sir H. YOUNG

No, Sir. I have received no representations to this effect.

Mr. de ROTHSCHILD

Will the right hon. Gentleman make inquiries, and see that these poor families obtain decent housing accommodation?

Sir H. YOUNG

I will certainly make such inquiries as are within my power. Perhaps my hon. Friend will give me any information that he may have at his disposal?
