HC Deb 05 July 1933 vol 280 c323
21. Mr. HALES

asked the Secretary of State for India, if, before coming to any decision regarding the transfer of Aden from the Government of India, he will consult the commercial and other interests in that centre, in accordance with the assurance given to Sir Chunilal Mehta on 30th November, 1931?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Butler)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on the 19th June to the hon. Member for Gower (Mr. D. Grenfell) from which it will be seen that full opportunity will be given for all the interests concerned to state their views.

Mr. HALES

Is my hon. Friend aware that there is a great wish on the part of the commercial interests in Aden not to be separated from India?
