HC Deb 04 July 1933 vol 280 cc164-5
4. Mr. HENDERSON STEWART

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state, with regard to the petition signed by 135 householders in. Gateside, Fife, protesting against the recent curtailment of the facilities enjoyed at the Gateside Post Office, what steps he proposes to take to meet the needs of householders in that area?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTERGENERAL (Sir Ernest Bennett)

The existing postal arrangements at Gateside, Fife, which were introduced in June, 1932, constitute a marked improvement on those previously in force. Certain difficulties in the regular delivery of newspapers appear to have arisen, and my right hon. Friend is having further inquiry made to see if they can be overcome.

Lord SCONE

Will my hon. Friend bear in mind that Gateside is the post-town for a considerable part of Perthshire as well as of Fife?
