HC Deb 04 July 1933 vol 280 cc147-8
5. Sir MURDOCH McKENZIE WOOD

(for Mr. DINGLE FOOT) asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered the representations put before the Department of Health for Scotland on 23rd May by representatives of the British Medical Association and the Scottish Association of Insurance Committees with regard to the position of unemployed persons who will be deprived of medical benefit at the end of the current year; and whether he has any announcement to make upon this subject?

Mr. SKELTON

My right hon. Friend has carefully considered the representations referred to. The possibility of extending the title to medical benefit of these persons beyond the end of the present year was fully discussed when the amending National Health Insurance Bill of last year was before Parliament, and it is not proposed to re-open the question.
