HC Deb 28 February 1933 vol 275 c159
8. Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can make any statement with regard to the experimental scheme of his Department for placing unemployed men on the land in Ayrshire?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir Godfrey Collins)

The Department of Agriculture for Scotland had arranged with proprietors to make land for plots available at Galston, but the applicants for these plots declined to take them when the Department were ready to give entry. At Auchinleck, where, also, a number of men applied for plots, the Department have been unable to obtain suitable land. Inquiries are proceeding in other districts.
