HC Deb 28 February 1933 vol 275 c175
37. Sir A. M. SAMUEL

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office the number of regular troops in Jersey; the number of staff officers in the island; and their pay and emoluments?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

There are three officers and three other ranks of the Regular Forces in Jersey, of whom two of the officers are the Lieutenant-Governor and his staff captain. For information as to the rates of pay of these latter officers, I would refer my hon. Friend to Appendix 8 of the current Army Estimates.

Sir A. M. SAMUEL

Is the staff officer in Jersey provided, in addition to his pay, with a house?

Mr. COOPER

I cannot answer that question offhand.
