HC Deb 23 February 1933 vol 274 cc1881-2
16. Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Minister of Labour what is the total number of juveniles between 14 and 18 years of age at present in employment; and what is the number out of work between 14 and 16 and between 16 and 18?

Sir H. BETTERTON

Owing to the fact that insurance against unemployment does not begin until the age of 16, there is no information available on the first part of this question. As regards the latter part, all the information available is published monthly in the Ministry of Labour Gazette.

Viscountess ASTOR

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think it is about time the Government had some informa- tion as to what is happening to the children between 14 and 16 years, both employed and unemployed?
