HC Deb 16 February 1933 vol 274 cc1163-4
36. Mr. HANLEY

asked the Home Secretary if he will introduce legislation to increase the control of the police over proprietary clubs?

37. Mr. POTTER

asked the Home Secretary whether, having regard to the divergence in the practice adopted by benches of licensing authorities throughout the country in respect of applications for the extension of the hours for the sale of intoxicants, he will consider the question of introducing legislation with a view to bringing about uniformity in this matter?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Both of the matters raised in these questions will receive careful consideration in connection with the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Licensing. As I have indicated in answer to previous questions, I am afraid that I can hold out no prospect of the Government undertaking any legislation in this field in the near future.
