§ Mr. MABANE(by Private Notice) asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is correctly reported that an ultimatum has been issued by Japan to China with regard to the province of Jehol; and whether he has any statement to make on the matter?
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)I have seen no report that an ultimatum has been issued, but I am informed that the Secretary of the Japanese Legation in Peking told a newspaper correspondent on Tuesday that the issue of ultimata was in contemplation.
