§ The MINISTER of LABOUR (Sir Henry Betterton)Out of over a thousand vacancies circulated in this way during the last three months, only two were for aliens. In one case the employer had applied for a permit to bring in an alien from abroad and in the other for an extension of an existing permit; the circulation of the vacancies was part of an effort to find someone with the necessary qualifications from among persons already resident in this country. The answer to the second part of the question is in the affirmative.
