HC Deb 15 February 1933 vol 274 c988
78. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his attention has been drawn to the delays in making repayments of duty overpaid on imports into Liverpool; and if he will take steps to overcome the delays?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hore-Belisha)

Every effort is made by the Liverpool Customs to adjust the deposits of duty on imported goods as soon as may be after receipt of the necessary particulars from the importers; but I am informed that in a large proportion of cases in which the goods have been delivered on deposit no attempt has yet been made to produce confirmatory evidence of value and that in many other cases the evidence produced is unsatisfactory.
