HC Deb 09 February 1933 vol 274 c339
18. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the sentence of two months' hard labour passed recently at Carmarthen on Samuel Thomas Lewis for a misstatement as to the age of his dog; and whether he will inquire into this case with a view to some remission of the sentence?

Mr. STANLEY

The attention of my right hon. Friend has not previously been called to the case to which the hon. Member refers. He is having inquiry made.

Mr. DAVIES

If the hon. Gentleman and his chief find out that the facts are as stated in the question, that a man has been sentenced to two months' imprisonment for giving the wrong age of his dog, will they consider the revision of this very severe sentence?

Mr. STANLEY

I cannot anticipate my right hon. Friend's decision.
