HC Deb 21 December 1933 vol 284 c1470
50. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for India what arrangements have now been made as to the appointment of a committee to investigate the delimitation of constituencies in India with reference to the federal constitution; whether a chairman has been appointed; and when it is proposed that this committee should begin its work?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Butler)

No delimitation committee has yet been appointed. Some provisional preliminary work has, I understand, already been done in India; but, as the hon. Member will appreciate, it would not be possible at present to make any arrangements which might prejudge the recommendations of the Joint Select Committee.
