§ 46. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSONasked the Prime Minister when he will be able to give a day for the discussion of the question of the reform of the League of Nations?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI would refer my right hon. Friend to the answer given to him and to the hon. Member for Broxtowe (Mr. Cocks) on the 13th December, and to what I said yesterday in reply to questions on this subject. Meanwhile, His Majesty's Government will continue to give the closest attention to this question with a view to upholding the usefulness and authority of the League of Nations.
§ Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSONMay I ask the Prime Minister whether this policy of secrecy is not contrary to the principles on which the League of Nations was founded, and whether it is not very detrimental to the interests of the League itself?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI think my right hon. Friend is mistaken in describing any policy which we are pursuing as a policy of secrecy. That is not the case.
§ Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSONMay I ask whether the Government have their own policy in this matter?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI have just indicated what that policy is.
§ Mr. MANDERIs it not more important to reform the attitude of the delegates who attend the meetings of the League of Nations?
