§ 44. Mr. MITCHESONasked the Minister of Health the number of houses now in course of construction compared with the number at the same time last year and in 1931?
Sir H. YOUNGThe number of State-assisted houses in course of construction in England and Wales at the 31st October, 1933, was 33,325. The corresponding figures for the same dates in 1932 and 1931 were 29,420 and 45,897 respectively. Similar information is not available as to houses under construction without State assistance, but the number of such houses completed during the year ended 30th September last was greatly in excess of that in either of the two previous years.
