HC Deb 27 April 1933 vol 277 c249
23. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Health how many local authorities have now forwarded to him copies of their programmes for slum clearance; and which authorities, if any, have indicated that it will be impossible for them to submit such programmes by 30th September next?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Hilton Young)

The answer to both parts of the question is "none." Only three weeks have elapsed since the issue of the circular letter asking that the programmes should be prepared.

Captain MACDONALD

Has the right hon. Gentleman given a time limit to local authorities to submit their schemes?

Sir H. YOUNG

The hon. Member will find a date fixed for the sending in of the programmes.

24. Mr. PARKINSON

asked the Minister of Health whether he can now report any accelerated progress in slum clearance?

Sir H. YOUNG

It is too early yet for any recently increased activity to have taken shape in the form of orders submitted to me.
