HC Deb 27 April 1933 vol 277 c253
31. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Agriculture what further progress has been made during the past fortnight with regard to the marketing schemes for pigs and bacon?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Major Elliot)

The public inquiries into objections lodged against these schemes having been concluded, my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Scotland and I are awaiting the Commissioner's reports, which are expected very shortly. Meanwhile, negotiations between producers and curers regarding contract prices for bacon pigs during the initial contract period have now been successfully completed, and I understand that other preliminary arrangements are well in hand.

Briģadier-General BROWN

Can the right hon. and gallant Gentleman assure us that the proposed agreement with Denmark will make no difference to these marketing schemes?

Major ELLIOT

That is so.
