HC Deb 27 April 1933 vol 277 c256
41. Mr. WHITE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is now in a position to make a statement with regard to the Trade Agreement with Argentina?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am happy to announce that agreement on all points of principle has today been reached with the Argentine Republic, and a treaty is now being drafted which is expected to be signed within the next few days.

Sir J. NALL

Has the cotton textile industry been considered in this connection, or has it been ignored, as in the case of Denmark?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

It has been considered in this case, and it was not ignored in the case of Denmark.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

How about the pottery industry?

Sir ARTHUR MICHAEL SAMUEL

Are the negotiations now in a final form, or must they receive confirmation by the Argentine Government later on?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I think if my hon. Friend will wait until the treaty is signed he will see that the usual procedure will be followed.
