HC Deb 13 April 1933 vol 276 cc2719-20
38. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action the Government are taking with reference to the breach by Germany of Article 162 of the Treaty of Versailles and in view of the presence of armed aircraft at the recent assembly of the Reichstag?

Sir FREDERICK THOMSON (Treasurer of the Household)

I have been asked to reply. The question whether the enrolment of Nazi storm troops in the German police is in conformity with the agreements and decisions made under Article 162 of the Treaty of Versailles, is under consideration. I have no official information that armed aircraft were present at the recent assembly of the Reichstag.

Mr. MANDER

Will not the Government make it perfectly clear that no unilateral breach of the Treaty of Versailles, either in the letter or in the spirit, will be for one moment allowed?
