HC Deb 11 April 1933 vol 276 cc2361-2
31. Mr. MANDER

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is satisfied that the agreement for wages arrived at through the joint industrial council of the lock, latch and key industry is being observed in all cases?

The MINISTER of LABOUR (Sir Henry Betterton)

I have no reason to think that the agreements made between the employers' and workers' organisations comprising this joint industrial council are not being generally observed by the parties concerned.

Mr. MANDER

If I can bring to his attention certain cases will the right hon. Gentleman be good enough to take such action as he can?

Sir H. BETTERTON

No, Sir. There is no action that I can take. This is a purely voluntary organisation over which I have no control.
