§ 24. Sir PERCY HURDasked the Home Secretary if his attention has been called to the increasing number of suicides from gas poisoning; and if he will institute an inquiry by experts into the possible chemical or other means of removing this means of self destruction?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Dr. Burgin)I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, I would remind my hon. Friend that this matter was investigated as recently as 1929 by the Departmental Committee on Deaths from Gas Poisoning, whose report was published in 1930.
§ Sir P. HURDHas any action been taken on that report, or has any fresh circumstance arisen that would lead the Government to review the situation?
§ Dr. BURGINI would like to send my hon. Friend the nature of the report. I do not think that any special occasion has arisen to take other action.
