HC Deb 04 April 1933 vol 276 cc1554-5
5. Sir IAN MACPHERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has yet come to a decision on the continuance of the weekly voyage of the vessel "Sweet Home," which conveys the necessities of life to the more inaccessible parts on the coast of the Western Highlands of Scotland?

Mr. SKELTON

In view of the serious decline in the traffic offered, and the consequent increase of the deficit on the working of the service, my right hon. Friend decided that the fortnightly service rendered by the vessel "Sweet Home" could not be continued after 31st March. That part of the area previously served by the "Sweet Home" which is not served by other means, such as the ordinary steamer services, will be dealt with by a weekly motor and motor-boat service.

Sir I. MACPHERSON

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I will raise the matter on the Adjournment.
