HC Deb 04 April 1933 vol 276 cc1574-5
47. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider the desirability of allowing some rebate of petrol tax in the case of petroleum used for industrial processes and not for motor transport?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I regret that I am unable to entertain such a proposal.

Mr. LEWIS

Is my right hon. Friend aware that, when such a rebate was allowed on similar taxation before the War, it was found to work very well?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Yes, Sir; I am aware of that rebate.
