§ 34. Mr. DORANasked the Home Secretary whether in view of the disturbances caused by the demonstration in the Strand of a recently founded Fascist group, he will prohibit the holding of such demonstrations in future?
§ Sir J. GILMOURI have obtained reports regarding the incident to which I presume my hon. Friend refers. I am informed that apart from a slight scuffle at one point there was no disorder and that the procession immediately dispersed on the leader being reminded by the police that it could not be allowed near Westminster. I am sure that the police are fully competent to deal with such incidents, and as at present advised I see no occasion for the issue of any special directions.
§ Mr. DORANIs my right hon. Friend aware that the objective in connection with this campaign is the creation of an anti-Semitic war in this country?
§ Mr. SPEAKERWe cannot go into that now.
§ Mr. THORNEWill the right hon. Gentleman make it known, because there is a large number of people who do not know, that no demonstration is allowed within a certain distance of this House, and I think it ought to be generally known what the distance is?
§ Sir J. GILMOURI have made it known. When I spoke the other day, I drew the attention of the House to the circumstances.
§ Mr. THORNEI mean the distance.
