§ 59. Mr. LEWISasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider the desirability of taking powers to require from governmental and municipal borrowers full particulars as to their financial position in any invitations they may make to the British public for the investment of funds in stocks which will be eligible for investment by trustees under the appropriate Acts?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINIt is, of course, desirable that borrowers should disclose their financial and economic position in order that investors may be in a position to judge the nature of the security offered; but I am not prepared to take powers to enforce the disclosure of such information.
