HC Deb 25 October 1932 vol 269 c799
12. Mr. THORNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the gallantry of the crew of the Cromer lifeboat in saving the lives of 29 men of the Italian ship "Monte Novoso"; and, if so, whether he is considering the advisability of acknowledging in suitable form the services they have rendered?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Reports of this rescue have been received. Apart from any action that may be taken by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, recognition of services in cases such as this is normally left to the Government of the country to which the ship in distress belongs.
