HC Deb 20 October 1932 vol 269 cc304-5
64. Mr. STOURTON

asked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the critical position of the railways, His Majesty's Government contemplate introducing legislation embodying the findings of the Salter Report?

Mr. PYBUS

In accordance with the undertaking which I gave to the House I have invited certain bodies representative of the interests chiefly concerned to submit to me their observations on the recommendations of the conference. At the request of certain of these interests I agreed to extend the period for the receipt of their replies to the end of the month. In the circumstances it would be premature for me to make any statement as to the Government's intentions in the matter.
