HC Deb 20 October 1932 vol 269 c304
24. Major BEAUMONT THOMAS

asked the Home Secretary what action he is taking against the firm of Messrs. Bates, a cement manufacturing company, of Camberley, Surrey, who employ lorry drivers on the condition that they cover 230 miles in a day?

Mr. STANLEY

I am informed that proceedings were taken against the company in question this month for a breach of Section 19 of the Road Traffic Act in respect of one of their employés, and they were fined £10 and £2 5s. costs. I understand that notice of appeal has been given.
