HC Deb 16 November 1932 vol 270 c1113
12. Lord APSLEY

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action he proposes to take on the report by Sir Alan Pim on the financial position and policy of the Zanzibar Government; and whether any of the definite recommendations for the immediate and subsequent reduction of posts are to be carried out in the interests of economy?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

It is not possible within the limits of a Parliamentary answer to give details of the action taken or proposed on the numerous recommendations made by Sir Alan Pim, but my Noble Friend may take it that the policy of the Zanzibar Government in financial matters will in general follow the lines suggested in his report. Some of the measures of economy have already been adopted and others are still under consideration in consultation with the Zanzibar Government.
