HC Deb 10 November 1932 vol 270 c494
34. Mr. LEVY

asked the Minister of Health what reply he has returned to the scheme submitted from the National Association of Building Societies for the provision of houses by building societies under State guarantee against loss; and, if so, what action, if any, is being taken on it?

36. Mr. HICKS

asked the Minister of Health what is the present position of the negotiations with building societies with a view to their taking over the erection of small dwelling houses to let?

Sir H. YOUNG

Certain proposals made by the National Association of Building Societies are still receiving my consideration.

Mr. HICKS

Is the Minister aware of the request made through the building industry's national council that before this becomes a matter of Ministerial policy his Department should consult with the other sections of the industry?

Mr. LEVY

Having regard to the fact that the matter is under consideration, can the right hon. Gentleman state approximately the date on which he expects to be able to send a reply?

Sir H. YOUNG

I am afraid I cannot specify a date for the reply, but the matter is receiving consideration as a matter of urgency.
