§ 28. Mr. EDWARD WILLIAMSasked the Minister of Health if his attention has been drawn to the housing policy of the Swanscombe Urban District Council which, by the use of direct labour 1959 eliminating the contractor's profit, has succeeded in erecting houses of the parlour type to let at 7s. 6d. a week, with no burden on the rates; and whether he is prepared to sanction the erection of a further 124 parlour-type houses by the council on land owned by them?
Sir H. YOUNGThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the second part in the negative. The council have been repeatedly informed of the reasons for my decision.
