HC Deb 30 May 1932 vol 266 c839
Mr. MOLSON

(by Private Notice) asked the Minister of Agriculture whether any steps had been taken after the flooding by the Lower Don in September, 1931, to prevent such a repetition of the flooding as has now taken place; and whether he can give any undertaking that the necessary drainage works will be put in hand forthwith by the Doncaster Drainage Board or by the Ouse Catchment Board in order to prevent the same disaster from happening a third time?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The officers of my Department have been in frequent consultation with the drainage authorities concerned and have visited this and other localities during the past few days. I am satisfied that these authorities are doing their utmost to arrive at a solution of the flooding problem with which they are faced. In the meantime I am in close consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health on the subject.

Mr. MOLSON

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I shall raise the matter on the Adjournment.
