asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can now make any statement as to economies which are in contemplation to reduce national expenditure; and, if not, when he anticipates be will be in a position to make any statement on the subject?

Can the right hon. Gentleman confirm or repudiate the statement appearing in some papers to the effect that a further reduction of teachers' salaries is contemplated?
