HC Deb 30 May 1932 vol 266 c805
7. Mr. LAMBERT

asked the Secretary of State for India if he will prepare an authoritative report, for circulation in foreign countries, illustrating the activities of the Congress party in India?

Sir S. HOARE

I shall consider my hon. Friend's suggestions, but I greatly doubt whether the demand would justify the expense of publishing a report of this kind in a number of foreign languages. Authoritative statements were, as my hon. Friend is aware, included in the Blue Book issued in February last.

Mr. LAMBERT

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that subscriptions are collected in America for Congress activities in India, and will he take steps to counteract this?

Sir S. HOARE

We will take such steps as we can, but I am not quite sure that my right hon. Friend's suggestion is practicable. However, I will look into it.

Sir ARTHUR MICHAEL SAMUEL

Would not the expense be completely justified, as it would help to repel misrepresentations against Great Britain?

Sir S. HOARE

I do not think that I have anything to add to the answer which I have given to my right hon. Friend.
