HC Deb 30 May 1932 vol 266 c806
12. Major DESPENCER-ROBERTSON

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he will take immediate steps to put an end to the practice of the Indian Government of selling old Army horses to Indians, in view of the fact that Eastern ideas on humanity to animals are different to Western ideas and that unnecessary suffering is thereby caused to these horses?

Sir S. HOARE

I can assure my hon. and gallant Friend that this matter is already receiving sympathetic consideration by the authorities in India. A copy of my hon. Friend's question will be sent to the Government of India.
