HC Deb 25 May 1932 vol 266 c340
6. Sir CHARLES CAYZER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received any official communication of the reported murder of Mr. Edward, the lighthouse-keeper at Breaker Point, near Amoy, who was recently captured by Communists; and what action he is taking with the Chinese Government to secure the punishment of the offenders and compensation for the widow and four children?

Sir J. SIMON

I have no definite confirmation of Mr. Edward's death, and such information as I have received is conflicting. If, however, the report referred to by my hon. Friend should unhappily prove to be well founded, the question of the punishment of the murderers and compensation for the dependants will be actively pursued.
