HC Deb 25 May 1932 vol 266 cc358-9
45 and 46. Mr. PARKINSON

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether the Government intends to proceed with the London Passenger Transport Bill; and, if so, whether it will be passed this Session;

(2) when it is proposed to introduce the Bill to amend the Rent Restrictions Acts?

The LORD PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL (Mr. Baldwin)

I will deal with both these questions in the statement on the Business of the Session which I propose to make early next week.

Mr. McGOVERN

Will the right hon. Gentleman tell us what is the trouble in connection with this Rent Bill whereby they cannot arrive at any conclusion as to when they will introduce it?

Mr. BALDWIN

I do not think the hon. Member was in his place yesterday when the same question was put by another hon. Member and was answered. I said before Whitsuntide that I would give a definite answer shortly after Whitsuntide, and it is in conformity with that promise that I propose to give an answer to that question and a number of similar questions next week, when I shall be in a position to tell the House what the whole of the Business will be for the remainder of the Session.

Mr. KIRKWOOD

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us any indication of whether there is going to be a reduction in the rent of working-class houses in the Bill?
