§ 41. Captain P. MACDONALDasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the present staff employed by the Tariff Advisory Committee; whether this staff will need to be increased in the near future; and to what extent it has been found possible to reduce the staff of the Board of Trade in view of the amount of work previously performed by that Department which have now been transferred to the Tariff Advisory Committee?
§ Major ELLIOTA statement of the staff at present employed by the Import Duties Advisory Committee was circulated in yesterday's OFFICIAL REPORT. Proposals for a small increase of staff are at present under consideration. The question of reducing the staff of the Board of Trade by reason of the constitution of the Committee does not arise, as the Committee's work is new work arising from the Import Duties Act, 1932.
§ Captain MACDONALDFrom what sources will this new staff be drawn?
§ Major ELLIOTProbably from other Government Departments, and some are being recruited.
