asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether there is any duty on British coal entering Canada; and, if so, will he state the amount per ton?

Mr. THOMAS

United Kingdom coal pays an import duty of 35 cents a ton (of 2,000 lbs.) and a special excise duty of 3 per cent. United Kingdom anthracite enters free of import duty, but pays the excise duty of 3 per cent.
