Mr. LEES-JONESasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take steps to terminate the commercial treaties with France and Germany, in view of the fact that the introduction of quotas in regard to certain British products entering these countries has minimised any advantages to this country under the most-favoured-nation clause in the existing treaties?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANThere is no present intention of terminating the treaties in question but the existence of import quotas in other countries will have to be taken into account in determining the future treaty policy of this country.
