HC Deb 23 May 1932 vol 266 c9
18. Mr. LAMBERT

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will state what progress has been made with the pig and milk organisation inquiries; and when their reports may be expected?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Sir John Gilmour)

The recently appointed Reorganisation Commissions for milk and for pigs and pig products have made good progress, but at this early stage of their investigations it is quite impossible to say when their reports may be expected.

Mr. LAMBERT

Is my right hon. Friend aware that the pig industry is completely paralysed, and, having regard to the fact that the Government have taxed feeding stuffs, can we expect these reports immediately?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I think the Commissions are very well aware of the necessity of reporting at an early date. They have already had two informal and six formal meetings.
