HC Deb 11 May 1932 vol 265 c1905
39. Mr. KERR (for Mr. CROSSLEY)

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he has any information of the arrangement under which the Egyptian Government will send raw cotton out of its stocks to Germany in barter exchange for chemical fertilisers?

Mr. COLVILLE

I have no knowledge of any such arrangement. Rumours of various barter schemes under which the Egyptian Government would dispose of portion of the stocks of cotton which they hold have reached me from time to time but are so far unconfirmed.
