HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1715
44. Mr. MANDER

asked the Minister of Labour in how many cases applicants for re-examination in connection with the means test have resulted in increased allowances, in no change, and in reduced allowances?

Sir H. BETTERTON

I regret that there are no statistics on this point.

Mr. MANDER

Would it be possible to give it for some limited areas, say, for Wolverhampton and neighbouring places?

Sir H. BETTERTON

I doubt very much whether I can, but I will consider a limited question of that kind.

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

At the same time will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the county of Lancashire?

Sir H. BETTERTON

That raises the point that was in my mind. It might well be that it would be impossible to give them for the whole country without an expenditure of time which would not be justified.
