HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1718
47. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when it is proposed to take action to reduce the interest charge on the National Debt?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for the Pontypool Division (Mr. T. Griffiths) on the 3rd March, to which I have nothing to add.

53. Sir FRANK SANDERSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of interest paid on the National Debt for the last financial year after deducting Income Tax and after deducting the interest received by British Government Departments, and the interest paid to the National Debt Commissioners?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I regret that this information is not available; no reliable estimate can be made of the Income Tax and Surtax, which is finally paid on the National Debt interest.
