HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1710
24. Mr. BURNETT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can give the number of petitions which he has received against the closing of examination centres for masters and mates in the East of Scotland?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have received no petitions but letters or resolutions have been received from eight representative bodies and one educational institution.

26. Mr. BURNETT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that the same officer has been conducting the examinations for masters and mates as for fishermen in Aberdeen, any substantial saving is to be anticipated from the closing of the Aberdeen centre for the examination of masters and mates?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The future arrangements for the examination of fishermen at Aberdeen will result in the saving of the bulk of the expenditure incurred in the past.
