HC Deb 10 May 1932 vol 265 c1700
12. Mr. PIKE

asked the Secretary for Mines the number of mines in Great Britain on 30th April which have been definitely closed down under new amalgamation schemes; the number of miners affected; and the prospects of these men being found alternative employment in mines or other trades?

Mr. ISAAC FOOT

I assume that my hon. Friend refers to amalgamation schemes effected since the setting up of the Coal Mines Reorganisation Commission. No pits have been closed under any of these schemes.
