§ Mr. HOLFORD KNIGHTI beg leave to present a Petition from 35,000 electors of the city of Nottingham. The petitioners are grievously affected by the excessive tax on beer, which is seriously diminishing the sale of that commodity and threatening to ruin numerous taxpayers in the city of Nottingham. The petitioners pray that this honourable House will exert its influence on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to remit part of this burdensome tax.
