§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERThe Bill referred to became law on 15th December, 1931. Its object was to remove from the Statute Book legislation authorising the employment of compulsory unpaid labour on roads and on the marking of the boundaries of native jurisdiction: but, as the clear demarcation of such boundaries is in the interest of the natives themselves, further provision for that purpose was made at the same time by an amendment of the Native Authority Ordinance.
