HC Deb 03 May 1932 vol 265 cc958-9
52. Mr. DENMAN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether in the interests of economy, arrangements have been made to enable Members to obtain third-class Pullman instead of first-class ordinary tickets between London and their constituencies?

Major ELLIOT

Yes, Sir. Arrangements have now been made for the issue of third-class tickets with third-class Pullman accommodation, where available, in exchange for Members' warrants, when the total cost does not exceed the first-class ordinary fare, or the first-class tourist fare where this is in operation. I would call the attention of Members to the fact that, as in the case of third-class sleeping accommodation, a separate warrant for the Pullman car accommodation should be presented and endorsed "Pullman Car Supplement Only."

Major COLFOX

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether any, and, if so, how many, Members use their warrants to travel third class?

Mr. SPEAKER

That question does not arise out of the answer.
