HC Deb 03 May 1932 vol 265 c955
37. Mr. HANLEY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take steps to make the Income Tax Acts applicable to the Channel Islands?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The Channel Islands have their own Income Tax system, and it would not be practicable to make the United Kingdom Income Tax Acts applicable to them.

Mr. HANLEY

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that these islands have done their utmost to assist the British Isles in the financial crisis?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I did not catch the hon. Member's question.

44. Mr. LENNOX-BOYD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the number of persons paying Income Tax in Great Britain and Northern Ireland as a result of the Finance Acts of April, 1931, and September, 1931, respectively?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Final estimates of the number of taxpayers under the second Finance Act of last year cannot yet be given, but I would refer my hon. Friend to the provisional estimates which were given in a reply to a question on 17th September last of which I am sending him a copy.
